Dinie

Dinie is one of the cooks who makes memorable dinners after the Saturday mass for the English community. However, she is also a member of the Lambertus community in Rosmalen, another one of Parochie Maria’s churches. Dinie compares the two, concluding the sense of belonging is the most important ingredient for community.
“The international English community has many different traditions and cultural norms. I like such diversity: we can all learn from each other that way. Even in a non-religious way. People from different countries take turns cooking a national dish, introducing us to authentic cuisine.”

Dinie notices a more ‘village-like’ atmosphere in the Lambertus, in a more settled group with mostly Dutch people “ So the communities are formed differently, but each of them is unique and beautiful in their own way. Neither one is better than the other.”

The Lambertus is a personally important place for Dinie. She prayed her first rosary there, and went back to church there after many decades.
Dinie hopes dinner after mass will become the norm rather than the exception “It’s a good way to break the ice, but more importantly, to break bread, like Jesus did. I noticed that really brings people together as a community.”

Join us for the English mass every Saturday at 17.15 h. And of course, you’re very welcome to stay for dinner, too!
